Plan from the current exam scope
Use Google Cloud’s Associate Cloud Engineer certification page and its linked exam guide and learning path as your preparation reference. Check the current requirements there before scheduling an exam.
The checklist here is a study workflow, not an exhaustive exam syllabus. Map each exercise you choose to an objective so that practical work supports your preparation rather than becoming an unrelated side project.
Define the outcome before starting a lab
Write a small task with an observable result. For example, explain which identity should be able to access a resource, then use an approved training environment to check that access. Avoid copying a command sequence without understanding its inputs.
For each lab, record the starting state, the action you performed, the result you expected, and the result you observed. A screenshot can support your notes, but the explanation is what makes the exercise reusable.
Practise explaining decisions
After completing a task, ask what would change if the requirements changed. Would a different access boundary, availability need, or operating constraint affect the approach? Verify your answer against the relevant official documentation.
Try explaining the exercise without the console in front of you. If you can only reproduce clicks, revisit the reason behind each step before repeating it.
- State the requirement in one sentence.
- Identify the resource and the identity involved.
- Explain how you would check the outcome.
- Record how to clean up the exercise.
Keep a troubleshooting notebook
When an exercise fails, keep the error message and record the first assumption you checked. Distinguish an access problem from a wrong resource selection or a configuration mismatch. Do not store credentials in your notebook.
Write a short resolution once you understand the problem. Later, recreate a harmless failure in a training environment and explain how you would diagnose it. This turns an interruption into useful practice.
Balance labs with question review
Use practice questions to uncover objectives you have not exercised. Use labs to make unclear concepts concrete. Neither activity has to replace the other.
Review resource costs and training-environment rules before each exercise, and clean up afterward. At the end of the week, compare your objective tracker with your lab notes and schedule the gaps for the next week.
